Marriage Ministry
Many Christian marriages are not what they should be. We need to stop asking the question, "What’s in this marriage for me?" and start asking, "What’s in this marriage for God?" How do the marriages in the church glorify Him ... enhance His reputation. Having a Biblical marriage is a vital part of the Christian’s discipleship.
There are several options to help the churches in this needy area:
- Weekend workshops or retreats for couples. This is a time focused on the couples where they can begin to experience the Word of God together, heal past hurts in their marriage, learn to comfort one another and others, refresh their relationship with God and get excited again. The end result is that the church is blessed with healthy marriages and families.
- Eight, ten, and twelve-week workshops. This has been one of the best ways to disciple the couples in their marriages. The groups range from six of seven couples to twenty couples. God has blessed these grounds with changed lives, changed marriages and changed churches.
- Ongoing marriage groups in the church led by couples who have already attended a workshop or a class.
- These workshops and classes are excellent community outreach. Most churches notify other churches in the area and also advertise to the community.
Parenting Ministry
- Weekend workshops that cover the basics of seeing children as our dearest disciples, experiencing the Word of God in our homes, discipline accomplishes God’s purposes for our children and activities to draw the family closer.
- Eight week workshops that include interactive times, creative ideas to help the parents and their children draw closer to one another and to God.
- These classes are best if preceded by one of the marriage events, but will also stand on their own.
- These workshops and classes are good for community outreach.
Relational First Aid … Becoming Good Samaritans
- This course is designed to equip the church to minister to a hurting world. It is for believers who want to minister to those who have fallen beside the road, overwhelmed with pain, pressure, or problems. It is for church leadership and lay people who want to lead their congregation to become a caring community. This could be offered in a weekend workshop format, but would do best as a six-week workshop.
Women’s Retreats
A syllabus is designed to meet the needs of the group incorporating many of the Intimate Life principles. These workshops are planned to allow the women time to experience the Word of God in their lives. It is a life changing time.
Intergenerational Ministry
- Workshops for teens and their parents. This is a time of sharing, healing hurts from the past and learning Biblical principles about showing respect and meeting emotional need in the family.
- Meeting with families to resolve hurts, restore relationships and learn how to move forward from there. This may be parents and their children who are still living at home or parents and their grown children and their spouses. These meetings deal with the hurts from the past and help the family heal. (These principles are also applicable in the church family.)
Pre-pre-marital Counseling
Using the same resources and the principles used in the marriage class, couples considering marriage are helped to blend their backgrounds, deal with hurts from past relationships and are equipped to start marriage free to focus on their relationship. (Hebrews 12:1) When they complete this time with the Daily’s they go to their pastor for their regular pre-marital counseling and planning the actual wedding ceremony. This has been an effective ministry that was started three years ago.
